Mark J. O’Malley, 88, of Girard, Ohio passed away peacefully 6th of February, 2024. Mark was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on December 7, 1935 to Marcus Paul and Julia Irene O’Malley.
He graduated from Rayen High School, Class of 1954, in Youngstown. Mark served the U. S. Army as a sharpshooter in the military police, stationed in Korea, for three years beginning in 1956. He traveled extensively during his career in industrial construction management for Maxon Construction and Eichleay Corporation. In retirement he maintained his permanent home in Girard although most recently he lived in Destin, FL.
Mark loved horse racing, sports and a was a passionate student of history.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Rosemary Beck and Nancy Beasley; and his brother, John O’Malley. He is survived by his nieces, Deborah Beck of Sugarland, TX and Diane (Gregg) Lewis of Destin, FL; his great niece, Annie Beck and great nephews, Nicholas Lewis, Andrew Lewis and Daniel Lewis.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 5-7pm on Wednesday, the 14th of February, at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be conducted at 11am on Thursday, the 15th of February, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard, where Fr. Jordan Kelly, is to celebrate. The funeral procession will begin with a 10am veteran service conducted by the Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard at the funeral home.
The Rite of Committal will follow, via an escorted cortège, at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at a venue to be announced during the services.
Mark will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
