Carmala “Carolyn” R. Skiffey, 94, formerly of Niles died 10:30 p.m. Saturday February 11th at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown.
She was born January 24, 1923 in Niles, the daughter of Joseph and Angeline LaPolla.
Carolyn was a 1941 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles where she was its 1944 Festival Beauty Queen. She also enjoyed golfing, dancing, bowling and trips to the casino.
She will be deeply missed by her husband Anthony Skiffey, whom she married July 3, 1947, four daughters, Shirley Satterthwaite of Niles, Carol Frost and her husband Larry of Lordstown, Chris Callow and her husband Lane of Denver, Terri Skiffey of Liberty, a brother Tony LaPolla of Arizona, and two grandchildren Charles and Bonnie Kaczmark.
She is preceded in death by a son David Skiffey, two brothers Nick and Guy LaPolla, and four sisters Bridget Aurillio, Lucille Cirello, Doris Capito and Marian Masser.
Friends may call Wednesday from 9:30am to 10:30 a.m. at the Joseph Rossi & Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles preceded by a 10:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
