Filomena A. Donadio, 92, of Niles, died at 3:44PM Sunday September 10, 2017 at her residence.
She was born May 21, 1925 in Niles the daughter of James and Maria Sando Ferruggio.
She was a 1943 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. Filomena was employed as a sales clerk for Kaufmanns/May Company at The Eastwood Mall in Niles for 25 years, retiring in 1996.
Filomena was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles and a very active volunteer. In addition to regularly making pizza and Easter bread, she was also a member of the Catholic Women’s Guild, Immaculate Conception Society, Blessed Mother Society, and Infant Jesus of Prague Guild where she volunteered for over five decades in the church festival Infant Booth and helped to sew the outfits for those infants.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She enjoyed spending time with family, holiday gatherings, cooking, gardening, and was an avid Cleveland sports and Ohio State football fan.
Her husband Anthony J. “Toncels” Donadio whom she married October 11, 1947 died February 6, 1998.
She will be deeply missed by her three sons: Anthony Donadio of Vero Beach, Florida, Patrick Donadio and his wife Elizabeth of Columbus, James Donadio of Lakewood, and a daughter Maria Davis of Vero Beach, Florida. She also had seven grandchildren, Anthony Donadio, Michael Donadio and his wife Abby, Mark Donadio, Nicholas Donadio, Marissa Donadio, Richard Davis, Christopher Davis and his wife Elise, and one great-grandchild, Kayden Davis.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemarie Donadio; daughter-in-law, Margo Donadio; sister, Jennie Marino, and infant sister Josephine Ferruggio.
Friends may call on Sunday September 17 from 4PM to 7PM at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles. The Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry and The Blessed Mother Society will conduct prayers at 6:30PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles preceded by 9:30AM prayer service at funeral home
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
