Fremont J. Camerino Jr., 80, of Niles, died at 10:05PM Friday September 29, 2017 at Shepherd of The Valley Lutheran Home in Niles.
He was born November 3, 1936 in Niles the son of Fremont and Ann Polinsky Camerino Sr.
Fremont was a 1954 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, attended Brown University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Fremont was a loan officer at several banks in Niles retiring from Farmers National Bank in 2004.
He was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Youngstown having served on its Parish Council and Finance Committee. He was also a member of Niles Kiwanis, Niles Historical Society, Niles Chamber of Commerce, and was a Niles McKinley High School 2001 Hall of Fame inductee. He served on The Niles Scope Board of Trustees, McKinley Memorial Library Board of Trustees, Shepherd of The Valley Board of Trustees, Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber Board Chairman and served as president of The Trumbull County YMCA. He also served as president of Niles City Council for 34 years.
He enjoyed golfing, bocce, and was an avid Youngstown State University and Cleveland Browns fan.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Betty Lou Storey Camerino whom he married October 21, 1982, a sister Mary Ann Bimler and her husband Tim of Houston, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-son Tom Collins.
Friends may call Thursday from 9:30AM to 10:45AM at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Youngstown.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM Thursday at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Youngstown with Msgr. Robert Siffrin officiating.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
