Lena E. Youll, 102, of Niles died Wednesday April 13, 2016 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.
She was born February 7, 1914 in Youngstown, Ohio the daughter of Anthony and Catherine Bassett Soreo.
Lena was a 1932 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and employed as a legal secretary and secretary for Michael J. Rudy Insurance Agency prior to her marriage. She was a life long member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles where she was the oldest parishioner and attended mass every week. She was a member and officer of the former Catholic Women’s Guild, The Trumbull County Pharmaceutical Auxiliary, The Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity Mothers Club, and a former member of The St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary. She was also an election poll worker, girl scout troop leader, and a volunteer teacher of Mount Carmel School’s first kindergarten class.
For over 60 years she had been a member of The Stitch and Chat Club with her sister Lucille Parise, cousin Loretta Salerno, aunt Lucille Bassett, niece Lena Trimbur, and friends Florence Rosenberger, Mary Parise, Fanny Altiero, and Florence Calderone
She enjoyed playing piano, needlework, sewing, baking, and had traveled to 10 states, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. She especially enjoyed spending holidays with Jack and Sandie Maffitt and attending Maffitt family reunions, and eating out with members of her bingo team and The Warren Birthday Club.
Her husband James A. Youll whom she married October 22 1936 died February 25, 1985.
She will be deeply missed by her son Dennis Youll, with whom she made home with ,three grandchildren, James Youll, Steve Youll and his wife Deborah, and David Youll, and three great-grandchildren, Krista, Brian, and Maggie Youll
She was preceded in death by a son James J. Youll, two brothers, Philip Soreo, and infant Francis Soreo, and two sisters Lucille Parise and Mary Calderone.
Friends may call Saturday from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00AM Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Niles preceded by a 10:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.
