Maria Calabria, 95, of Niles died at 8:39PM Saturday October 8, 2016 at Vista Center at The Ridge in Mineral Ridge.
She was born August 4, 1921 in Gioiosa Marea, Sicily, Italy the daughter of Ignazio and Angela Mollica Cortuillo and came to the United State in 1955 to live with her sponsors Frank and Thelma Calabria.
She was employed for 11 years at The Penn-Ohio Towel Company, a homemaker, member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, enjoyed cooking, playing cards, and traveling back to Italy.
Her husband Giuseppe Calabria whom she married July 10, 1941 died February 23, 2002.
She will be deeply missed by a son Rosario Calabria and his wife Rosa of Massillon, Ohio, a daughter Mary Rose Benton and her husband Thomas of Berlin Center, Ohio, three brothers, Filippo Corturillo and his wife Nina of Lordstown, Tindaro Corturillo and his wife Maria of Catania,Italy, and Joseph Corturillo of Niles, a sister, Carmela Natoli of Sicily, Italy, six grandchildren, Joseph Calabria, Carmen Calabria, Rosario Calabria, David Benton and his wife Priscilla, Stephanie Kline and her husband Scott, and Steve Benton, and four great-grandchildren, Miranda, Vivian, Oliver, and Jorja.
She was preceded in death by an infant son Ignazio Calabria , and three sisters, Maria, Giuseppa, and Tindara.
Friends may call Tuesday from 8AM to 9:30AM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Niles preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery.
