Phyllis B. “Phyl” Virostko, 89, of Niles died peacefully at 9:24PM Sunday July 17, 2016 at Gillette Nursing Home in Warren, OH, with family at her side.
She was born September 30, 1926 in Niles the daughter of Carmen and Minnie Soriano Biviano, who were both born in Italy.
She was a 1944 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a graduate of Youngtown College with a bachelors degree in business administration. Phyl was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, Mount Carmel Guild, church festival volunteer, and bingo worker for 40 years. She delivered for Meals on Wheels for 35 years, enjoyed bowling, cooking, and eating lunch out with her friends. She also enjoyed dancing and won a few jitterbug contests over the years. Her passions in life were to be with her family and take care of them and to help everyone else she could along the way.
Her husband John G. Virostko whom she married June 3, 1950 died April 19, 1998.
She will be deeply missed by two sons John C. Virostko and his wife Debby of Liberty and Steven M. Virostko and his wife Judy of Cincinnati, a daughter Cindy Virostko of Bath, Ohio, seven grandchildren, Megan Harris and her husband Bill, April Graham and her husband John, Paul White, John Virostko and his wife Danielle, Erica Hiznay and her husband Cody, Alycia Trekur, Giselle Luppino, and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Marguerite Virostko, who died July 17th , 2011, six brothers, Joseph Biviano, Rocco Biviano, Anthony Biviano, Sam Biviano, John Biviano, and an infant brother John.
Friends may call from 4 to 7PM Thursday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where The Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery.
