Robert E. Alton passed away at age 79 of Youngstown, on Sunday, April 30, 2017 in Hospice of The Valley Hospice House in Poland. 
He was born May 8, 1937 in Warren, Ohio, the son of Edward and Martha Harries Alton.  Bob graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1955, where he played golf.  He continued playing golf while attending Youngstown College.  He served in the U.S. Army and played on the U.S. Army golf team while stationed in the Azores.  He married Sandra Strock Giuliano in 1962 and they had two daughters.  
Bob worked for several area companies, including Republic Steel, Packard Electric, and B-Right Trucking, in addition to several golf courses, where he was a teaching professional.  Bob was widely known for his golf game, winning many tournaments both locally and regionally.  
Bob is survived by his daughters:  Joanna (Norman) Scarazzo of Canfield and Betsy (Jeff) Craig of John’s Creek, Georgia.  He also leaves behind five grandchildren:  Nicole and Michael Dascenzo, and Kyle, Mackenzie and Sydney Craig.
Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant brother, James Alton.
In accordance with Bob’s wishes, there will be no funeral services or calling hours.A private burial service will take place at a later date at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna, Ohio.  The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, Ohio 44512.
