Angelo F. “Bogey” Giancola Jr., 85, of Columbiana died 1:27pm Sunday February 24th at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Angelo was born on August 3, 1933 in Struthers, the son of Angelo and Erma Dephilippis Giancola Sr.
“Bogey” graduated from Struthers High School in 1951 and then went on to attend Youngstown State University for two years. He was employed at Hearn Paper Company in Youngstown as a truck driver for 32 years, retiring in 1995 and was a member of St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church in Columbiana and also the Teamsters Local 377.
Angelo enjoyed golfing, playing cards, horse racing, traveling, and was a fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers, and the Boston Celtics.
His first wife, Carol Rosile Giancola, whom he married February 6, 1954 died December 24, 1997, and more recently his wife Joan M. Giancola whom he married May 2, 2002 died December 2, 2018.
He will be deeply missed by his three sons Michael Giancola and his wife Cathy of Hubbard, Raymond Giancola and his wife Sherry of Hubbard, Richard Giancola of St. Augustine FL., his daughter Tammy Russell and her husband Ted of Poland, his brother Dan Giancola of Ames, Iowa, two sisters Erma Niemi of Columbiana, Jean Miletta of Poland, nine grandchildren AJ, Tony and Anna Giancola, Jessica and Angela Giancola, Chad and Tony Pitts, Tara Giancola, Lauren Horvatovich, and three great-grandchildren Dominic and Adriana Giancola and Madison Altier.
He is preceded in death by two brothers Ben and Joseph Giancola and four sisters Sarah Mignella, Mary Thomas, Nancy Salvador and Annie Giancola.
Friends may call Thursday from 10am until the time of the 11am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hubbard.
Burial will be in Hubbard Union Cemetery.
