Anthony J. Skiffey

Anthony J. Skiffey, 98, of Niles, passed away at 8:52AM Thursday August 15, 2019 at The Victoria House Assisted Living in Austintown.

He was born June 15, 1921 in Niles the son of Maurice and Rose Spadaford Skiffey.

Anthony was a 1939 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, a self-employed real estate broker and an appraiser for The Veterans Administration for 65 years retiring in 2011. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, church usher, enjoyed golfing, casino trips, traveling, and sports.

Anthony was a United States Marine Corp veteran of World War II having served as a corporal in The South Pacific Theatre especially in The Philippine Islands.

His wife Carmala “Carolyn” LaPolla Skiffey whom he married July 3, 1947 died February 11, 2017.

Memories of Anthony will be carried on by his four daughters, Shirley Satterthwaite of Niles, Carol Frost and her husband Larry of Lordstown, Chris Callow and her husband Lane of Denver, Colorado, and Terri Skiffey of Liberty, and his two grandchildren, Charles and Bonnie Kaczmark.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Skiffey, three brothers, Richard Skiffey, James Skiffey, and Lawrence Skiffey, and four sisters, Phyllis Conti, Julia Chiarmonte, Margaret Muche, and Mary Infante.

Friends may call from 5 to 7PM Monday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where The Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery where Anthony will be honored for his military service by The Girard Veterans Council Honor Guard.

Arrangements are being handled by The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
