Charles A. “Sonnie” Granger, 77, of Youngstown, died at 9:20AM Monday August 13, 2018 at Assumption Village Nursing Home.
He was born June 11, 1941 in Niles the son of Ralph and Frances DeLaratta Granger.
He was a 1960 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and employed at WCI Steel in Warren as a slitter helper for 37 years retiring in 2004. Charles was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Youngstown, coached football for The Our Lady of Mount Carmel School Mounts in Niles, Niles VFW and Moose Midgets teams. He enjoyed golfing, reading, and a United States Air Force Veteran.
He will be sadly missed by four sons, Tony Granger and his wife Beth of Hubbard, Joe Granger of Hampton, Virginia, Bobby Granger and his wife Denise of England, and James Granger and wife Lori of Austintown, his a daughter Mary Morgan and her husband John of Campbell, a brother Ralph Granger and his wife Helen of Niles, and two grandchildren, William Granger and Kaitlynn Morgan.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7PM at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles and from 10AM to 11AM Friday at The Zion Lutheran Church in Youngstown, 3300 Canfield Road, Youngstown, Ohio 44511.
Funeral Services will be held 11AM Friday at The Zion Lutheran Church in Youngstown with Rev. Duane Jesse officiating. Charlie will be honored for his military services immediately following the services at the church
The family wishes to give a special thank you to the staff of Assumption Village Nursing Home and Hospice of The Valley for their kindness, love, and compassion of Charlie.
