Frank Barber Obituary

Frank J. Barber, 94, of McDonald died at 12:05 a.m. Monday at Trumbull Regional Medical Center in Warren.

He was born March 7, 1924 in Girard the son of Joseph and Florence DelBene Barber.

Frank was a 1942 graduate of Girard High School and then went on to serve in the United States Navy during World War II.

After the war, Frank went on to work at US Steel for a few years and later as a tow motor operator in the warehouse at Lowblaws  in Youngstown for 22 years. Following, he was employed at General Electric in Niles and then went on to retire at McDonald local schools as a custodian.

Frank was a member Of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in McDonald and also the Knights of Columbus in Girard.

“Cheech” as he was known, was a man of Faith and never missed mass. His interests included playing billiards, golfing, making hot peppers, ballroom dancing with his wife at Avon Oaks with his friends, making pizzelles with the family during the holidays and also was a fan of all Ohio sports teams.

Frank's wife Rosemary Philomeno Barber, whom he married on October 15, 1949, died August 24, 2016.

He will be deeply missed by three sons, Joseph Barber and his wife Deborah of Niles, Richard Barber and his wife Susan of Greenville, South Carolina and Kenneth Barber and his wife Laurie of McDonald, four grandchildren, Julie Edwards and her husband Ron, Andrea Barber, Austen Barber, and Brandon Barber, two great-grandchildren, Dakota Edwards and Jazmin Jackson and several nieces and nephews.

Frank is preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew and Joseph Barber and three sisters Lydie Sabino, Lena Marinelli and Mary Bahn.

Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Joseph Rossi & Sons Funeral Home in Niles where the Mount Carmel bereavement ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles, preceded by 9:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
