Jacob William Orlaski of Niles passed away after a brief illness September 10, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital in Warren.
Jacob was born in Berwick, PA on June 8, 1935, the son of Jacob and Dorothea Reighle Orlaski. He attended Berwick schools graduating from Berwick High School in 1954. Soon after, he served in the United States Air Force stationed in South Carolina. Jacob earned his journeyman’s license as a skilled tool maker. He was employed by General Motors for 33 years, retiring in 2006.
Jacob and his siblings spent their early years on the family farm in PA, where a love of gardening developed which he continued in his own home. Jacob had a life long love of flying and was extremely proud of the private pilot’s license he held. His interests also included electronics which he used to run a small electronics repair business. Jacob’s interests extended into computers and computer programming for which he won several awards at General Motors.
Jacob is survived by his wife of 45 years, Darla Rae Coombs Orlaski, his daughter, Kay Cole and her husband Benjamin of Bloomsburg, PA., two sons, Jay Orlaski of Danville, PA., Alan Jacob Orlaski and his wife Karen of Austintown, two grandchildren Emily and Ian Orlaski of Austintown, his brother, John Orlaski and his wife Martha of Millville, PA., as well as several nieces and nephews.
Jacob was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Martha McClellan.
According to the family’s wishes, a private funeral and burial will be held.
Arrangements are being handled by the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
