James N. Williamson, age 76, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018.
Jim was a lifelong resident of Niles, born on July 4, 1941. He was the son of Dr. Albert “Lou” Williamson and Annette “Anne” Seip Williamson.
Jim was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School in 1959. Upon his graduation from Niles McKinley, Jim spent 4 years serving his country with the United States Navy. After the Navy, he returned back to Niles and discovered his passion of flying. For the last 41 years, Jim was the chief pilot for Molded Fiberglass. His love of the sky was evident as he could fly anything from single, twin, as well as jet airplanes. When Jim wasn't flying you could find him enjoying one of his several hobbies. He spent his time fishing, hunting, grilling out, and walking his late dog, Jazz. He was always willing to help a friend or family member. However, those hobbies paled in comparison to his favorite hobby, spending time with his wife and three grandchildren.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 46 years, Joann Brine Williamson, his son, Joel Horvat and his wife Shumei “May” of Columbus, his daughter, Kim Williamson Bakeris and her husband Spiros of Howland, his grandchildren, Joy Qiao, Halina Bakeris, and Laz Bakeris, who adored him.
He is also survived by his sister, Julie Grewell (Ned) of Warren and his brother, Dr. Jay Williamson (Janice) of Akron.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 9:30am to 10:30am Friday June 1st at the Joseph Rossi & Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11am Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles preceded by a 10:30am prayer service at the funeral home.
