Jean D Holmes

Jean D. “Bona” Belcastro Holmes, 77, of Niles, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday October 11, 2019 with her loving family by her side.

She was born February 6, 1942 in Warren the daughter of James and Helen Bako Belcastro.

She was a 1960 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and worked various jobs in the area including serving on The Fairhaven School Board. She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Niles, Niles Football Mother’s Club, enjoyed writing, reading, hosting parties for her family, attending her granddaughter’s dance competition and watching them cheer and march for The Niles McKinley Red Dragons.

Her husband Vincent J. Holmes whom she married September 3, 1960 died March 26, 2004.

She will be sadly missed by two sons, Patrick Holmes and David Holmes both at home, two daughters, Heidi Goodin and her husband Wes of California and Susan Marshall and her husband Captain John of Niles, a brother, James Belcastro and his wife Marcia of Niles, five grandchildren, Amanda Goodin of California, Ashley Goodin of New Jersey, Lydia Marshall and Sophia Marshall of Niles, and Valerie Holmes of Dayton, her nieces and nephews; Steve Stabile and Andy DeFuniak of Chicago, Charlene Rable and her husband Bill, Karen Schimley and her husband Michael, Joyce Clay and her husband Russ, and Michael Holmes, and many great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son Vincie J. Holmes, a sister and brother-in-law Mary Stabile and her husband Sam.

Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 7PM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Friday at St Stephen Catholic Church in Niles preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
