Joseph Montevideo, 86, of Niles, passed away at 7:30AM Sunday July 28, 2019 at his residence
.He was born January 6, 1933 in San Giovanni di Gerace Calabria Italy the son of Angelo and Marie Scali Montevideo and came to The United States in 1950 with his mother and sister to join his father and two older brothers
.Joseph was employed as a machinist at National Gypsum for 44 years retiring in 1995 and was also a part time tailor at Strouss Department Store for 15 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, had a passion for gardening and wine making, enjoyed the friendship of his neighbors, and considered his family as the most important part of his life.
He will be sadly missed by his devoted wife of 59 years Maria Parisi Montevideo whom he married October 8, 1960, a son David Montevideo and his wife Tammy of Puyallup, Washington, two daughters, Sandra Emerick of Hudson, Ohio and Carla Cestone of Canfield, a sister Mary Jane Mosca and her husband Eddie of Niles, four loving grandchildren, Dana Montevideo, Angelo Cestone, Giovanna Cestone, and Evan Emerick, a sister-in-law Vickie Montevideo of Niles, and several nieces and nephews
.He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Philip Montevideo and Sam Montevideo
.Friends may call from 4 to 7PM Wednesday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where The Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Thursday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Niles preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home
.Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery
.Arrangements are being handled by The Joseph Rossiand Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
