Anna Oliva Cerbara, 94, of Niles passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 7, 2015.
She was born November 10, 1921 in Gavignano (Rome), Italy the daughter of Alesssandro and Adele Micocci Volpicelli..
Anna immigrated with her family to Niles in December 1955 where she devoted her life to her faith and raising her family. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society and the Infant of Prague Guild. She also was a longtime festival volunteer making pizzas and cheese puffs. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed making cookies, pizzas and breads for all to share. Anna especially enjoyed spending time with her family here in the United States and the many trips to Italy.
Her husband, John Cerbara (Nanni), whom she married in 1939, died October 16, 1998.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters Elsa Cerbara and her husband Vincenzo of Niles, Carla- Tina Congemi and her husband John of Austintown, Rosalba DelGenio and her husband Thomas of Venice, Florida, son Peter Cerbara and his wife Betty of Houston, Texas, a sister Fernanda Giuliani Gavignano of Rome Italy, a brother Ignazio Volpicelli of Venice, Italy, 6 grandchildren, Elizabeth Cerbara, John and Donald Kocher, Dina Sparent, Christopher DelGenio, and John Cerbara, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents, is her sister Maria Feola.
Anna's family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Emanuel Ting who took care of her for many years, Dr. Ted Faull, her visiting physician, and Southern Care Hospice Services.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 6 PM at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral home in Niles where the Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society, and infant Jesus of Prague Guild will conduct prayers at 5:30PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles celebrated by Fr. John Michael Lavelle, to whom the family would like to thank for his prayers and support, preceded by a 9:30 prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery in Warren.
