ANTHONY G. "TONY" FRASCA of 668 Niles-Cortland Rd in Warren peacefully departed this world at his home on November 24th, 2015, while in the care of his loving daughter, Robyn, formerly of Horseheads, NY.  He was 99 years old, just shy of his oft stated goal of reaching 100, but few ever enjoyed a richer or longer life.

Born in Niles, Ohio, on July 7th, 1916, of Gennaro and Grazia Frasca, Tony graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1934 (and was in fact inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 2008).  His family being of modest means, he worked tirelessly at the Ohio Leather Works for four years before earning enough money to attend Ohio University in Athens, where he graduated in 1942 with a degree in business administration.  The nation now in the midst of World War II, Tony immediately enlisted in the service of his country.  Already an accomplished drummer and percussionist, he was promised by a zealous recruiter a position in the prestigious U.S. Army Band.  Instead, he found himself relegated to the infantry behind the trigger of a Browning Automatic Rifle and destined for the European front.  Shortly before his scheduled embarkation, however, an alert officer recognized Tony's advanced office skills and transferred him to the headquarters of the 9th Army Corps, an assignment that would take him to the Philippines and Japan.  His talent as a musician, on the other hand, would not be wasted, for he later became a founding member of the legendary W.D. Packard Concert Band and was a popular drummer for countless area dances and variety shows.

Following his discharge from the Army, Tony became interested in the insurance business, and with the help of the government's GI Bill, quickly earned his sales agent licenses for home, auto, fire & casualty, and life policies.  He eventually bought the Niles business of his mentor, and combined with due diligence, untold hard work, and an engaging and charming personality, built the Frasca Insurance Agency into one of the city's most prominent and profitable enterprises.  Forever active and civic-minded, he served as President of the Lions Club and Knights of Columbus, ran for public office, and was a member of fraternal and charitable organizations too numerous to mention.  An avid golfer and exceptional bowler, dozens of trophies filled the mantle of his home on 458 Hogarth Avenue in Niles, where he resided with his first wife, the late Ann Carman, whom he met and married in 1947, and his two surviving children, James of Croton, Ohio, and Robyn of Warren.  Widowed in 1993, Tony remarried the late Helen Zuzulo in 1995 and moved to the Warren address.

Besides his two devoted children, he leaves behind three nieces: Gracie Hreno and Luanna Lang, both of Niles, and Theresa Kopp of San Diego, California, and two nephews: Neil Donald Frasca of Austintown and Anthony Chieffo of Reno, Nevada.  Predeceasing him were two brothers and a sister: Joseph, Daniel, and Katherine, and two beloved granddaughters, Lacey and LaDawn Ingram of Pinellas Park, Florida.  A memorial service, conducted by Pastor Bill Leitch and followed by interment at St. Stephens Cemetery, will be held at twelve noon on Tuesday, December 1st, at the Living Lord Lutheran Church on 851 Niles-Cortland Rd NE in Warren.
