Obituary

Anthony J. Vigorito, 76, of Niles, passed away peacefully on Friday July 24, 2026 at his residence.

He was born December 16, 1949 in Youngstown the son of Philip and Annette Pezzano Vigorito.

Tony was a 1968 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. Tony (veteran) joined the United States Air Force Reserve as a Load Master for cargo planes for over 10 years. He was a multi-talented man. He loved to work and enjoyed many different trades, he was a Journeyman bricklayer, Owned Tony Vigorito Construction, even worked in insurance and real estate. Tony was also a City of Niles Fireman, which he enjoyed very much. He then studied to become the Chief Building Official and Building Inspector for the city of Niles for over 20 years.

He was a member of Saint Pope John XXIII Parish-Mt. Carmel Church in Niles, festival volunteer, member of The Niles Knights of Columbus Council 1681, ITAM Post 39 in Niles, Vienna Fish and Game, and NRA life member.

Tony had a passion for people, he was such a kind heartwarming man, that we all got to know and love. Some of his hobbies included hunting, fishing, working on his cabin, and coffee with the guys but nothing beat time with his family and his favorite Sunday dinners. 

He will be deeply missed by his wife Jane Walley Vigorito whom he married May 6, 1972, two sons Anthony P. Vigorito and his wife Carrie of Niles and Kenneth J. Vigorito(Melanie) of Niles; Alex Fuchs, who was a foreign exchange student turned into an honorary son of Neu-isenburg, Germany. A brother Judge Philip Vigorito and his wife Sharon of Lordstown, two sisters, Patricia Foster and her husband Larry of Boardman, and Janet Vigorito of Niles, five grandchildren, Hailey M. Vigorito, Kenneth A. Vigorito, Gianna N. Vigorito, Raymond A. Vigorito, and Anthony G. Vigorito.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 7PM Wednesday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where prayers will be conducted at 6:30PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Thursday at Saint Pope John XXIII Parish-Mt. Carmel Church in Niles, with Fr. Leo Wehrlin officiating, preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home. Including The City of Niles Fireman honor service.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery where Tony will be honored for his military service
