Obituary

Arlene Kay Armstrong Gibbs, 76, of Youngstown, formerly of Niles, died at 8:10AM Sunday July 6, 2014 at Omni Manor Health Care Center.

She was born March 13, 1938 in Braceville, Ohio the daughter of Charles and Lylia Clark Armstrong.

Arlene was a 1956 graduate of Braceville High School and was employed at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, first in the daycare, and then in medical records until she retired in 2008. During her retirement she enjoyed going to Scrappers games and TNT with her best friend Jim, as well as watching all The Indians baseball games on TV. She also enjoyed reading and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles.

Arlene was also a foster mother for more then 30 years for The Trumbull County Children Services. She loved and cared for more then 100 children during that time period. She treated each one as if they were born to her.

She will be deeply missed by three sons, Ed Gibbs of Warren, Bill Gibbs of Warren, Kevin Gibbs of Pinellas Park, Florida, six daughters, Vicki Follett and her husband John of Hagerstown, Maryland, Kaye Hadzigeorge and her husband Michael of Warren, Janie Gibbs and Alice Gibbs both of Youngstown, Ginger Nolen of Warren, and Natalie Gibbs of Jacksonville, Florida, two brothers, Howard Armstrong and his wife Maria of Youngstown and Phillip Armstrong and his wife Sandra of Lawrenceville, Georgia, three sisters, Beverly Owens of West Melbourne, Florida, Lois Walchie and her husband Marion of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and Judy Persons of Sharon, Pennsylvania, 28 grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren with one more due in August, and her best friend, confidant and companion James N. "Jim" Sotak who loves and misses her dearly

She was preceded in death by a son David Gibbs, four brothers, Charles Armstrong, Donald Armstrong, Richard Armstrong, Gerald Armstrong, and a sister Grace Burton.

Friends may call Wednesday from 10 to 11AM at Grace Church of The Nazarene, 5253 W. Webb Road, Austintown, Ohio.

Memorial services will be held 11AM Wednesday at Grace Church of The Nazarene, 5253 W. Webb Rd. Austintown with Rev. Robert Donato officiating.

Any donations in Arlene's memory can be sent to Grace Church of The Nazarene or Hospice of The Valley.

Arrangements are being handled by The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
