Betty K. Mientkiewicz, 81, of Niles, died Saturday, February, 22, 2014 at Lake Vista of Cortland.
She was born January 15, 1933 in Erie, Pennsylvania the daughter of Cecil and Julia Kibbe Drown
Betty was a 1951 graduate of McKean High School in McKean, Pennsylvania where she was class valedictorian.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, a homemaker, and enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Betty, who was a compassionate and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother will be deeply missed by her husband Chester Mientkiewicz whom she married October 24, 1953, five sons, Pete Mientkiewicz and his wife Tracy of Niles, Steve Mientkiewicz and his wife Joy of Houghton, New York, Greg Mientkiewicz of Niles, Tim Mientkiewicz of Waterford, Pennsylvania, and David Mientkiewicz and his wife Kathy of Kinsman, Ohio, three daughters, Julanne Follmeyer and her husband Bob of Howland, Karen Macali and her husband Ralph of Howland, and Rose Mientkiewicz of Springfield, Missouri, a sister Dorothy Goodban of Waterford, Pennsylvania, 21 grandchildren, Jason Hart and his wife Erika, Joel Follmeyer and his wife Chrissy, Elizabeth Ledbetter and her husband Troy, Mike Mientkiewicz, Rachel Mientkiewicz, Steven Mientkiewicz and his wife Tessa, Dr. Lauren Mientkiewicz, Stuart Mientkiewicz, Nicholas Mientkiewicz, Charlean Mientkiewicz, Zebadiah Mientkiewicz, Zekiel Mientkiewicz, Zechariah Mientkiewicz, Christopher Macali and his wife Natalie, Quinn Macali, Tyler Macali, Anne Mientkiewicz, Jane Mientkiewicz, Kate Mientkiewicz, Chester Mientkiewicz, and Corry Mientkiewicz, and three great-grandchildren, Madison Hart, Nolan Hart, and Dominic Mientkiewicz.
She was preceded in death by a son Patrick Mientkiewicz.
Friends may call Tuesday from 8:30AM to 10:30AM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles with Fr. John-Michael Lavelle officiating, preceded by a 10:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Awadalla, Dr. Robert Naples, Lake Vista Staff, and all hospital caregivers for their loving care.
