Carmela Accordino, 93, of Warren, passed away at 4:42PM Friday July 31, 2020 at Mercy Health St. Joseph's Warren Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 11, 1927 in Gioiosa Marea Sicily Italy the daughter of Francesco and Tindara Laura Fonti and came to America with her son Salvatore to join her husband in 1958. Carmela was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, church festival volunteer, Niles Ladies Knights of Columbus Council 1681, and enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, canning, gardening, and baking bread every Friday. Her husband Nicolo "Nick" Accordino whom she married February 21, 1952 died June 29, 2017. She will be deeply missed by three sons, Salvatore Accordino and his wife Angela of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Frank Accordino and his wife Darlene of Worcester, Massachusetts, and Nick Accordino Jr. and his wife Monica of McDonald, eight grandchildren, Nicolo Accordino and his wife Megan, Teressa Accordino, Nicola Accordino, Sofia Accordino, Grazia Accordino, Alyssa Accordino, Camden Fredrick, and Nathan Fredrick, and one great-grandchild Emma Accordino. She was preceded in death by a brother Antonio Fonti. Private committal services will be held at a later date. Her family would like to give a special thank you to her physicians: Dr. Kapil Kwatra, Dr. Carlos Ricotti, and Dr. David Fredericka for their exceptional and compassionate care of Carmela.
