Charles ("Chuck") E. Kachersky, 93, of Niles, passed away on January 17, 2024, in hospice care. Chuck was born on August 31, 1930, in Gates, Pennsylvania, the son of Frank and Helen (Stoyko). He was employed as a maintenance supervisor at Union Carbide in Ashtabula, which later became Elkem Metals, retiring in 1991. Chuck was a Deacon in the First Baptist Church of Ashtabula, a member of the First Baptist Church of Girard, American Legion Post 106 in Niles, and a United States Army veteran of World War II. Chuck served as a Boy Scouts leader for many years in Ashtabula. He also enjoyed hunting, traveling the country, camping with his family, studying Civil War history, and carpentry. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carole (Mullins), whom he married on December 19, 1952; his son, Patrick, of Golden, Colorado; his daughter in law, Erin (McClurkin); his seven grandchildren, Michael of Edgewood, Christina (Ryan) Ellis and Charles II (Jennifer) of Saybrook, and Jeremiah (Lindsay), Natasha, Zackery, and Naomi of Colorado; and his five great-grandchildren, Aidan, Caitlyn, Alex, Matthew, and Sara. He was preceded in death by his parents; his two sons, Philip and Paul; his sister Olga Anderson, and his brother-in-law, George Anderson. Burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Arrangements handled by The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
