Captain Charles H. "Chic" Pleiss, 75 of Niles, died at 9:40AM Saturday October 25, 2014 at his residence.

He was born February 20, 1939 in Warren the son of Edward and Alice McLaughlin Pleiss.

He was a 1957 graduate of Girard High School and attended Youngstown College.

Chic was employed for 46 years as a police officer in the City of Niles, a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Niles, enjoyed camping, tinkering, and was a United States Naval veteran for two years having served on The USS Nereus Submarine in Hawaii.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Carol Rohland Pleiss whom he married August 23, 1986, two sons, Mark Edward Pleiss of Indiana, Pennsylvania and David Rohland Pleiss of Niles, two daughters, Natalie Ann Pleiss, at home, and Shari Pleiss of St. Paul, Minnesota, a brother Jim Ellsworth, three sisters, Judy Walker of Mentor-On-The-Lake, Ohio, Mary McKeon of Girard, and Carol Reese and her husband Butch of Canton, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joanne Angell.

Friends may call from 4 to 7PM Tuesday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where The Niles Fraternal Order of Police will conduct prayers at 6:30PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Wednesday at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Niles preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery where Charles will be honored for his military service by The Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.
