Charles G. Trombitas, 88, died at 10:30 pm Thursday December 5th at his residence in Niles. Charles was born March 27, 1925, the son of George and Parashiva Ziga Trombitas. He was born into a farming family who immigrated from Romania. Charles and his two older brothers learned the value of hard work and during the Depression they were poor but never hungry. Chuck lettered as a halfback at Canfield High School and just before World War II he traveled with a friend to Joliet, Illinois where he met Margaret who would become his wife of 66 years.He served in the United States Navy and saw D-Day. After the war he bought a truck and remained a teamster for his working life. Chuck was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his wife Margaret Pauson Trombitas, two sons Larry Trombitas of Niles and Mark (Renee) Trombitas of Poland, two daughters Charmaine (Edward) DeVite of Missouri, Charlyn (John) DeCola of Howland, a brother John (Dorothy) Trombitas of Lordstown, four grandchildren , six great-grandchildren and a few good dogs. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother George Trombitas. Friends may call Wednesday from 4pm until the time of the 6 p.m. Funeral service at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home Niles officiated by Reverend Timothy Trombitas. Chuck will also be honored for his military service by the Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard. Burial will be in Pineview Memorial Park in Warren.
