Dominick Michael DeFabio, 80 of Niles died at 9:20AM Saturday August 9, 2014 at St. Joseph's Health Center in Warren, Ohio.
He was born February 28, 1934 in Niles the son of Joseph and Concetta Infante DeFabio.
Dom was a 1953 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and employed for 39 years at WCI Steel as a crane operator retiring in 1999. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, and a retired member of The United Steel Workers Local 1375.
Dom loved to have fun. He loved to dance and to help out a friend or family member in need. They called him "Mr. Handy Man"
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of The U.S Army football team.
Dom, who never met a stranger, will be deeply missed by his wife Nancy Thompson DeFabio whom he married January 31, 1959, a daughter Denise Bliss of Cortland, two grandchildren, Damaris Bliss of Cleveland and Dane Bliss of Lakeland, Florida, and two sisters, Judy Dellimutti of Warren and Yolanda Sposato of Columbiana.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Patrick DeFabio, Anthony DeFabio, Rocco DeFabio, Joseph DeFabio, John DeFabio, and Ralph DeFabio, and two sisters, Lucille Pishotti and Angeline Jenyk.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7PM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where The Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles, with Fr. John-Michael Lavelle officiating, preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery where Dom will be honored for his military service by The Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.
Arrangements are being handled by the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
