Dorothy Mary(Calderone) Modarelli, 78, passed away June 17, 2013 in Las Vegas.
She was born in Niles, Ohio on April 10, 1935 the daughter of Anthony and Lida Vennetti Calderone and was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles before moving to Las Vegas.
After graduating from Niles McKinley High School in 1953 she was employed in the Title Office of The Trumbull Clerk of Courts in Warren. She also worked at The Capital Records office for 2 years in California, returned back to Niles and was employed as a secretary at Ravenna Arsenal until retirement.
She married Charles Lee Modarelli on May 16, 1970. After making their home in Niles for 23 years, they retired and settled in Vegas on October of 1993.
She is survived by her sister Adelyn Bellej of Niles, a brother Walter(Ann) Calderone of Cave City, Kentucky. Also surviving are sister-in-laws Mary Jane Modarelli, and Sally (Robert) Porfilio both of Austintown.
She also leaves four nieces, Janice(Ron) Orwig of Girard, Joyce Bellej, of Palm Desert, California, Michelle Bellej(Matt) Brooks of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Susan Bellej of Niles.
Three nephews also survive, Anthony J. (Claire) Calderone of Bristolville, Dean Modarelli of Austintown, and Jack Modarelli of Texas, great nieces Amber A. (Daniel) Eichorn of Michigan, Heather Orwig of Girard, one great nephew Ron Orwig Jr. of Girard, and a great niece Corrin Calderone of Bristolville.
Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Charles on September 10, 2011, her in-laws Frank and Florence Modarelli, brother-in-laws Joseph P. Bellej and Jack Modarelli, sister-in-law Ethel Modarelli, and Niece Gloria Modarelli.
Dorothy was an outgoing person who enjoyed being with friends and cousins. She loved music, dancing, shopping, entertaining, and going to casinos with friends. She especially liked spending time with her family visiting in Ohio.
Internment took place at The Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial in Boulder City, Nevada where she was laid to rest with her husband.
There will be a memorial mass to honor the life and memory of Dorothy at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 232 Seneca Street NE, Warren, Ohio with Rev. Bernard Schmalzreid officiating on Tuesday August 6, 2013 at 11:00AM. Her dear cousin Sr. M. Adele Vecchione ASC will be the soloist and organist. Family and friends are invited to attend.
