Obituary

Edith M. Salerno, 83, of Niles died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Gracewoods Assisted Living in Niles.

She was born December 26, 1927 in Niles the daughter of John and Mary Frances DeChristefero Iezzi.

She was employed at Packard Electric and at Alberini's Restaurant for 26 years before retiring in 1980.

She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard, and enjoyed ceramics, cooking, cake decorating, making cookies for weddings and graduations, and was queen of making raviolis for family gatherings.

Her husband Angelo Salerno whom she married October 1947 died February 27, 1991.

She will be deeply missed by a son John Salerno and his wife Carol of Girard, a daughter Cheryl Garbus and her husband Richard of Niles, four sisters, Louise McQuown and her husband Carl of Girard, Vita Powers of Niles, Yola Iezzi of Daltona,Florida, and Rose Marie Jadloski of Niles, a grandson Brian and his wife Amanda, a great-grandson Cooper, a sister-in-law Nancy Iezzi Dom, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother James Iezzi, a sister Betty Rura, and a brother-in-law John Rura.

Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7PM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30AM Saturday at St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard preceded by a 9:45AM prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be Niles City Cemetery.
