NILES – Eleanor C. Hackett, 93, passed away at 10:42 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016, at St. Joseph's Health Center Eastland in Warren.
She was born Feb. 21, 1923, in Niles, the daughter of Ralph and Angeline Scarnecchia Macali.
Eleanor was a 1940 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, employed as a sales clerk at Strauss and Griswolds department stores, retiring in 1985, a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, enjoyed golfing and cooking.
Her husband, Walter H. Hackett, whom she married Nov. 24, 1949, died Feb. 20, 2010.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Janice Hackett, with whom she made her home; a sister, Norma Entler of Melbourne, Fla.; and her sisters-in-law, Dolores Macali of Niles and Anne Macali of Warren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Armand Macali, Gilbert A. Macali Sr, and Palmer "Barney" Macali Sr.; and her brother-in-laws, Jack Entler and Roger (Pat) Hackett.
Calling hours are private.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles.
Burial will be at Niles City Cemetery.
