Fred R. Guerra Sr., 93, of Niles died at 9:54PM Monday January 19, 2015 at Summa Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio

He was born June 22, 1921 in Niles the son of Dominick and Maria Fagnano Guerra.

Fred was a 1941 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and was employed as electrician and foreman at U.S. Steel McDonald Works.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, church usher, San Fellipe, Niles Moose, enjoyed dancing, golfing, traveling, and a United States Coast Guard veteran of World War II, having been stationed on the USS Callaway in the Pacific Theatre.

His wife Mary Colla Guerra whom he married April 17, 1948 died December 21, 1988.

He will be deeply missed by his son Fred R. Guerra Jr. and his wife Gretchen of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, his daughter Marilynn Denholm and her husband David of Belmont, North Carolina, five grandchildren, Kristine A. Denholm, Christopher N. Guerra, David J. Denholm and his wife Nichole, Victoria Lynn Denholm, and Fred R. Guerra III, and three great-grandchildren, David John Denholm, Hannah Grace Denholm, and Dominick Guerra.

He was preceded in death by three brothers Phillip Guerra, Fabian Guerra, and Joseph Guerra, two sisters Anne Rizzi, and Rose DeChristopher, and special friend Myrle Brown.

Friends may call from 4 to 7PM Thursday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where The Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will held 10:00AM Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Niles preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery where Fred will be honored for his military service by The Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.
