Gary E. "Duke" Newbrough II, 20, formerly of Niles died Friday May 3rd in Ahoskie ,North Carolina. He was born on January 27, 1993 in Mount Pleasant South Carolina the son of Gary E. and Cathy Chambers Newbrough Sr. Gary attended Niles McKinley High School and was employed at the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald newspaper in Ahoskie, N.C. as a press operator for 2 years where he was well known for his strong work ethic, typically performing additional tasks while the press was not in operation. He was a member of the OSWAYO Valley Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed spending time playing with his daughter and his dog "Bogart", basketball ,four wheeling ,trout fishing, riding and working on his go cart, and was always tinkering with things that needed built or fixed. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Mariah Newbrough of Winton N.C, father of Niles, mother of Harrellsville, N.C. ,paternal grandparents James L. and Jenny Newbrough Sr. of Niles, maternal grandparents Henry Vance Dunlow of Colerain, N.C. and Joyce Dunlow and her companion Raymond E. Bonney of Harrellsville, N.C. his companion Kaitlyn Helton of Winton N.C.,., brother Jacob "Jack" Newbrough of Harrellsville N.C.,and two sisters Hannah and Sarah Newbrough both of Niles. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Coley "Bill" Chambers. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11am Saturday at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Funeral Home with Rev. John Mizgerd officiating. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
