Grace D. Rajkowski, 94, died at 8pm Friday November 15th at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home in Niles. Grace was born January 17, 1919 in Warren, Ohio the daughter of Pasquale and Carmela Mostrapola D'Orio. She grew up in an ethnic Italian neighborhood among many extended family members and passed on much of her Italian culture to her family. She attended Warren G. Harding High School. She married Edward J. Rajkowski on October 26, 1940. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before his death on September 2, 1991 She held a wide variety of jobs during her lifetime. During the war effort she contributed her skills by making clothing for the armed forces. She ended her work career at Kings Department store, where she was a sales clerk for 15 years. Grace was a member of St Stephen Catholic Church in Niles and enjoyed crocheting, bowling, ceramics, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her two daughters Jeanne Chwalik of Delray Beach, Florida and Wanda (Jim) Matig of Warren, her grandchildren Joseph, James (Karla), Wendy (Doug), Jake, Edward (Marcia), Michael (M. J.), Christopher and her 18 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by three brothers John, Mike and Joseph D'Orio and three sisters infant Grasiella D'Orio, Angie Bugnone, and Nancy Giancola. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home, 457 Robbins Ave. Niles, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St Stephen Catholic Church, 129 West Park Avenue Niles, Ohio, officiated by Father Richard Murphy.
