Harvey V. Simon III, 78, of Girard, formerly of Niles, died at 11:50PM Monday December 14, 2015 at Hospice of The Valley Hospice House in Poland surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 24, 1937 in Canton, Ohio the son of Harvey V. and Marguarite "Peg" Remalia Simon Jr. and moved to Niles in 1943 with his family.

He was a 1956 graduate of Niles McKinley High School where he was a member of the track team and then went on to serve with the United States Air Force Reserves 910'th at The Youngstown Air Base. Harvey was employed as a Lieutenant with The Niles Fire Department for 25 years and was owner of Colonial Builders before he retired in 1989.He then became a bus driver for Fairhaven School until 1999 when he suffered a stroke.

Harvey was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, The Police and Fire Retirees of Ohio, and Hillside Stroke Survivors Group and Respeak. Besides his family, Harvey loved two things; The Boston Red Sox and classic cars. A street car enthusiast, he was a member of Allied Forces Car Club, Good Guys Rod and Custom Association, and The National Street Rod Association.

Harvey will be deeply missed by his wife Carole Crisafi Simon whom he married June 17, 1961, two daughters, Kelli Hanes and her husband Del of Fishers, Indiana, and Traci Kempe and her husband Larry of Girard, three grandchildren, Erika Hanes and Paul and Anthony Kempe.

He was preceded in death by a son Todd Simon, his parents, and a sister Doris Simon-Stephens.

Friends may call from 4 to 8PM Friday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where The Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 7:30PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Niles preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery where Harvey will be honored for his military service by The Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.

Arrangements are being handled by The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
