Helen S. Birskovich, 94, of Niles died at 7:10am Wednesday June 19, 2013 in the house she and her husband built with their own hands.
She was born August 3, 1918 in Youngstown the daughter of Michael and Sara Helch Schuller.
Helen was a 1937 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles. She was also a Mount Carmel School cafeteria volunteer, member of The McKinley Mutual Benefit Association, and member and officer of The AARP. She delivered for Meals on Wheels, a volunteer for The Trumbull County Board of Elections, and enjoyed cooking, shopping, traveling, and baking.
Her husband Frank Birskovich whom she married June 8, 1950 died March 26, 2008.
Helen who was a very supportive wife and grandmother will be deeply missed by a son David Birskovich of McKinley Heights, three daughters, Jean Searfoss and her husband Victor of Iron Station, North Carolina, Susan Sturgeon and her husband Stephen of Niles, Barbara Graham and her husband Marc of Noblesville, Indiana, a sister Elizabeth Schuller of Niles, eight grandchildren, Victor Searfoss, Lisa Limpach, Brian Graham, Matthew Graham, Allen Graham, Sara Feldhaus, Jennifer Rohland, and Wayne Rohland, and four great grandchildren, Leo Feldhaus, Helena Feldhaus, Luke Graham, and Alice Graham. She is preceded in death by a son Robert Birskovich, a daughter Nancy Louise Birskovich, a granddaughter, Alicia Graham, two brothers, Fred Schuller and John Schuller, and four sisters, Christine Schuller, Anna Mae Ague, Bertha Beach, and Pauline Helenberger.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7PM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where the Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30PM.
Services of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Saturday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles with Fr. Thomas Kraszewski officiating
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
Arrangements are being handled by The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
