Helen Lara, 95, of Niles, died 7:30am Tuesday November 19th at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home in Niles

She was born on December 29, 1923 in New York City, the daughter of Sergio and Elena Bettancourt Quinones.

Helen worked as a bridal consultant for Carlisle's Department Store for many years and she also sewed bridal headpieces. She also managed apartments for SIMCO corp.

Helen enjoyed ceramics, and also taught classes for several years.

Her husband Albert Lara, whom she married June 9, 1945, died November 9, 2003.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter Linda Arnold and her husband Thomas of Warren, daughter-in-law Rita Lara of Niles, sister Sylvia Cardona of Colorado, four grandchildren, Rick Lara and his wife Christine, Jason Lara and his wife Antoinette, Chris Arnold, Kim Arnold, six great grandchildren, Allison Trickett (Beth), Ashley Lara, Ryan Gregory, Jason Lara Jr. Samantha Monroe, Daniel Monroe (Marietta).

She is preceded in death by her son Richard Lara, her brother Salvatore Quinones, and two sisters Doris Mendoza and Josie Mendoza.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm Saturday December 7th at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
