Helen A. Misel, 93, of Niles died Friday July 6, 2012 at Shepherd of The Valley Lutheran Home in Niles.
She was born April 1, 1919 in McDonald, Ohio the daughter of Louis and Anna Abraz Havaich.
While her sons were in high school she worked as a cook at Niles McKinley High School. She was also employed at The Weatherbee Coat Company in Youngstown for five years, then at General Motors Lordstown in the paint Department 3rd Lacquer for 18 years retiring in 1989.
Helen was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Niles , The UAW Local 1112 Retirees Club, Niles Scope, and Slovanian Ladies Club. She enjoyed ceramics and her family continues to appreciate and cherish her work especially her fine porcelain dolls. Helen was also known for her holiday baking and cake decorating.
Her husband Walter Misel whom she married July 19, 1941 died October 25, 1970.
She will be deeply missed by two sons Richard Misel and his wife Anne of Niles and Ronald Misel of Niles who currently lives in the family home she loved so much, four grandchildren, Gregory Misel of Las Vegas, Nevada, Laura Kepple of Reno, Nevada, Patrick Misel and his wife Kathy of Poland, Ohio, and Cari Falk and her husband Tom of Columbus, Ohio, five great-granddaughters, Tori, Lexi, and Casi Kepple, Gina Misel, and Olivia Falk, three great-grandsons, Timmy and Aiden Kepple, and Michael Misel, and a sister Barbara Paulicivic of Niles.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Nancy Misel, two grandchildren John and Pamela Misel, three brothers, twins Walter and George Havaich, and Charles Havaich.
Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 6PM at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Monday at St. Stephen Catholic Church with Father Thomas Kraszewski officiating, preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
