James Edward
Cvengros
Oct 31, 1949 — Jul 21, 2026
Niles
James Edward Cvengros, 76, of Niles, passed away peacefully at his residence on his patio, surrounded by his two beloved dogs, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
Born on October 31, 1949, in Warren, Ohio, the son of Lewis and Leona Cvengros. Jim never knew the number of lives he’d touch in the coming 76 years, nor did he know the number of people that would rely on him for a number of things.
Jim was a 1967 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and spent his lifelong career as a self-employed contractor. He seemed to know a lot about everything, though in his mind, he knew it all and could never be wrong. Throughout his life, he touched countless lives with his willingness to help others, his quick wit, and his ability to bring light to nearly every situation.
He took tremendous pride in his carpentry work, he truly knew how to do it all. When he somehow found any time to relax, he loved experimenting in the kitchen, especially by creating new soup recipes for his family to taste; even in the midst of the hot summer. Nothing brought Jim more joy than spending time with his children and grandchildren. Each summer, he faithfully opened the family pool, where his grandchildren would learn to swim. He treasured quiet mornings with a cup of coffee, relaxing on the patio with his family, watching sports, and was well known as the keeper of the family candy and cookie stash.
He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, Patricia K. (Manley) Cvengros, whom he married on August 13, 1983; his two sons, James L. Cvengros (Stacy) of Niles and Brian M. Doughty of Niles; his two daughters, Kirsten L. Cvengros (Elijah Williams) of Niles and Kaitlin J. Porter (Mark) of Austintown; his brother, Steve Cvengros of Niles; his sister, Linda Pregibon of Niles; and his four cherished grandchildren, Ava, Arya, Jamie, and Kaiden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Leona Cvengros, and his favorite cousin, Johnny (Johnathan) Young.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to The Joseph Rossi & Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
