Jeffrey R.Smith, "Smitty", 54, of Niles died Wednesday December 11, 2024 at the Hospice House in Poland.

Jeffrey was born February 19, 1970 in Warren, the son of George and Kathleen Leach Smith.

He was a 1988 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and then went on to graduate from the Western Reserve Institute of Police Academy in 1991.

He began working as a dispatcher in Liberty and then at Trumbull County 911. He then went on to work at Hartford and Fowler Police departments before starting at Warren Township Police Department in 1996 until retiring in 2017. After retirement, he worked per diem at  Mercy Health Hospital as a dispatcher.

He is a member of St. Pope John the 23rd Parish/ Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles, and Warren Township FOP Lodge 198.

Jeff was an avid Dallas Cowboys, Ohio State, and Cleveland Guardians fan and enjoyed spending time with his family especially at dinners and holidays.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Patricia Bernard Smith, whom he married July 20, 1996, his son Mathew Smith and wife Jillian of Niles, stepdaughter Maggie Raschilla Powell and her husband Bryan of Niles, and grandson Nicholas Powell. His mother Kathleen of Lordstown,sister Kim Smith of Rock Hill, South Carolina ,nephew Geoffery Kullen Smith and his wife Madison and great nephew Geoffery Smith Jr.

He is preceded in death by his father and his sister Maribeth Smith.
