Jerry "Giomo" Sacco, 82, of Niles, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth's Youngstown Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born October 24, 1936, in Bovalino, Reggio Calabria, Italy the son of Vincenzo and Carmela Zappia Sacco.

Jerry was employed with Bricklayers Locals #8 and #43 and retired from WCI Steel as a mason on October 14, 2001. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, church usher, festival volunteer in the beer tent, and a member of Niles Knights of Columbus Council #1681 3'rd degree.

He enjoyed walking, gardening, especially hot peppers and tomatoes, and tending to his flowers.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Matilda Bruno Sacco whom he married October 5, 1963, a son James Sacco at home, three daughters, Carmel Sacco, at home, Gina Sacco(Michael Patton) of Warren, and Jessica Sacco at home, a sister Eleanor Sacco of Boardman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Joseph Sacco, and three sisters, Rose Morabito, Mary Salinitro, and Christine Scotti.

Friends may call from 4 to 7PM Friday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where The Mt. Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
