John Vendemia, 68, of Niles died at 7:40PM Monday March 25, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Warren.
He was born May 10, 1944 in Sharon, Pennsylvania the son of Anthony and Jeanette Palumbo Vendemia.
John was a 1963 graduate of Brookfield High School and employed as a meat cutter at A & P and Giant Eagle Supermarket for 46 years retiring in 2006.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, The Vienna Fish and Game Club, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and archery, and a United States Army Veteran having been stationed in Alaska.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Laura Ferro Vendemia whom he married February 14, 1976, a daughter Shelly Adams of Girard, Pennsylvania, a brother Anthony Vendemia Jr. of Masury, Ohio, two sisters, Michaeline Fette and her husband Richard of Brookfield, and Katherine Taub and her husband Martin of Brookfield, a granddaughter Sara Adams, two brother-in-laws, Stephen Ferro and his wife Diane and Phillip Ferro and his wife Joy, and his best pal, his dog Snookers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Joseph Vendemia and Guy Vendemia and two sisters, Mary Scott, and Pauline Bruno. Friends may call Monday from 5 to 7PM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where The Mt. Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00AM Tuesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in McDonald with Fr. John-Michael Lavelle officiating preceded by a 9:15AM prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery where John will be honored for his military service by The Trumbull County American Legion Honor Gurard.
