Joseph P. Chuirazzi, 91, a resident of Shepherd of the Valley in Niles, died on Monday January 12, 2015 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 29, 1923 in Warren, Ohio, the son of Nick and Maria Antoinette Pela Chuirazzi.

Joe was a 1941 graduate of Niles McKinley High School.  He entered the Navy in May 1943, serving on the U.S.S. Rigel and was a 2nd Class Petty Officer.

Joe worked for Sheet Metal Local #33 and then for Niles City Schools at Niles McKinley High School until he retired in 1988.

Joe was a member of St. Stephen Church in Niles and also the San Felippo Neri Lodge. He was an avid football fan, especially the Niles McKinley Red Dragons.  His keen sense of humor and funny stories will be missed by all.

His wife Helen Kopi Chuirazzi whom he married on Sept. 18, 1948 died October 2, 2003. They were married for 55 years.

He leaves behind two daughters, Linda Murillo, of San Diego, California, and Sandy Fryer and her husband Doug, of San Dimas, California; 4 grandsons, Nicholas, Anthony and Christian Murrillo and Riley Joseph Fryer; three brothers,
Louis Chuirazzi of Niles, Carl Chuirazzi and his wife Annette, of Poland, and Nick "Gigs" Chuirazzi of Vienna; and a sister, Eleanor Grubbs, of Niles.

He was preceded in death by a brother John Chuirazzi and a sister Mary Salapata

Friends may call from 5 to 7PM Thursday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Friday at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Niles with Father Fred Trucksis officiating, preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Niles City Cemetery with full military honors.
