Joseph J. Mordent Jr. 82, of Niles, died Monday September 16, 2013 at The Cleveland Clinic.

He was born July 26, 1931 in Niles the son of Joseph and Jennie Votino Mordente.

Joe was a 1950 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and employed as a steel marker at Heltzel Steel in Warren for 42 years retiring in 1992.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, enjoyed fishing, hunting, an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeye fan, and a United State Army veteran of The Korean War.

His wife Mary E. "Libby" Holbrook Mordent whom he married September 28, 1957 died April 12, 2013.

Joe who always said "I did it Libby's Way" will be deeply missed by a son Michael J. Mordent and his wife Lori of Niles, a daughter Mary Jo Vleck(Aubrey Gordon) of Highland Heights, Ohio, and two grandchildren, Jaime and Joe Vleck.

He was preceded in death by a brother Nicholas Mordente.

Friends may call Thursday from 8:30AM to 9:30AM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Thursday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles preceded by a 9:30AM prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery where Joseph will be honored for his military service.
