Joseph J. Rich, 82, of Niles, passed away on Thursday August 24, 2023 at Hospice of The Valley Hospice House. He was born June 24, 1941 in Youngstown the son of Arthur and Mary Chance Rich. Joe was a 1959 graduate of McDonald High School and a graduate of Ohio Business School with a degree in accounting. He was employed at General Motors Lordstown, General Motors Oklahoma City, Bowling Green Kentucky Corvette Plant, and Warren, Michigan Tech Center in the accounting/engineering department for 37 years retiring in 2003. He then worked part time for Evergreen as a patient transport after his retirement. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Niles, enjoyed cars, avid Cleveland sports and Buckeyes fan, and drinking coffee with his buddies. His wife Carole Newhouse Rich whom he married November 2, 1963 died December 23, 2020. He will be deeply missed by three sons, Joseph M. Rich and his wife Karen of Girard, Mark Rich and his wife Fanny of Niles, Shawn Rich and his wife Patti of Niles, a sister Shirley Delon and her husband Ed of McDonald, and eight grandchildren, Natalie, Tanner, Tyler, Leah, Gavin, Noah, Chad, and Blair. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Rich. Friends may call from 9 to 10:30AM Tuesday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM Tuesday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niles preceded by a 10:30AM prayer service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
