Leo A. " Happ" Marino of Warren, died at 3:34pm Monday November 22nd at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, with family by his side.
He was born December 13, 1925 in Niles, the son of John and Philomena Ravella Marino and was a life long area resident. Leo attended Niles Schools and started a concrete business in 1954 where he became well known in the Trumbull and Mahoning Counties as "Mr. Concrete" until he retired in 2006.
Leo was strong in his faith as a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niles, where he was active as an usher and as a member of Niles Knights of Columbus #1681 for many years. He would also assist as an usher on occasions at St. James Church in Warren.
Boxing was his love. He fought in the Golden Gloves as a teenager and was known to pass his knowledge of the sport on to many people. Leo was Vice-President and Co-founder of the Legends of Leather Boxing Club in Niles and was an avid New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fan.
He was a wonderful husband, a great father, and a loving grandfather. He was a kind man and was known for calling everyone "my friend".
Leo leaves his wife Rosemarie Dickey Marino whom he married January 30, 1954, a son Leo John Marino and his wife Bobbi of Cape Coral, Fl., a daughter Karen Comer and her husband Gregory of Niles, a brother Dominic Marino and his wife Bernice of Warren, four grandchildren Natalie Westfall, Tara Baldwin, Stephanie and Leo Marino and two great- grandchildren Peyton and Shae.
Beside his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph Marino Sr., Thomas Marino, John Marino Jr., and Salvatore Marino, and two sisters Theresa Williams and Carmella Marino.
Friends may call 4-7pm Friday November 26th at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles, where the Mt. Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30am Saturday November 27th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niles with Father Larry Frient officiating preceded by a 9:00am prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery.
