Leonard "Lenny" E. Nethers of Fowler/Vienna passed away on Thursday November 21, 2024 at Trumbull Regional Medical Center in Warren. Lenny was born August 20, 1934 in Niles, the son of Clyde Sr. and Nora (Carmen) Nethers. He joined the United State Navy at age 17 and served during the Korean war. After the military service, Lenny was employed at Pennsylvania Railroad (later becoming Penn Central then Conrail) until his retirement in 1986. Lenny enjoyed coaching youth baseball for several years in Fowler. He enjoyed bowling but his real passion was golfing. He golfed in various leagues and worked at numerous area golf courses as a Ranger. He was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Vienna. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Marianne Baechtel Nethers, whom he married July 6, 1959. He is survived by four children: his eldest daughter Pam Wilson (Ralph) of Warren; his son David Nethers (Shelley) of Ames, Iowa; his daughter Jill Karg (Chris) of Brookfield; and his youngest daughter Jennifer Chastain (Sean) of Akron. He dearly loved and will be missed by his five grandchildren: Samantha Haff (John) of Warren; Maxwell Smith (Kimber) of Austintown; Jacob Nethers (Madison Polley) of Carlisle, Iowa; Ashley Nethers (Gage Miller) of Alleman, Iowa; Zachariah Karg of Brookfield; and his great-granddaughter Ellie Ray Smith. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Lenny was preceded in death by his parents Clyde Sr. and Nora (Carmen) Nethers; a brother Clyde Nethers Jr., three sisters Virginia Mrus, Grace Hopps, Hazel Sills and nephews Michael Nethers and Christian Baechtel. Friends may call Monday December 2nd from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles. Following calling hours, a mass will be held at Queen of the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Vienna at 4:00 pm.
