Maria Teresa DeGennaro, 90, of Niles, died 1:20 a.m. Monday April 1st at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. She was born March 17, 1923 in Quadrelle, Avellino, Italy the daughter of Domenico and Giovanna Napolitano. Maria owned and operated Maria's Pizza in Niles with her husband, was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles and its Mount Carmel Society. She enjoy traveling, gardening and most of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husband Benigno DeGennaro, whom she married April 20, 1947 died October 8, 2007. She will be deeply missed by her son Benedetto DeGennaro (Foncine) of Niles, her daughter Nicoletta Ferone (Gaetano) of Mineral Ridge, her brother Carmine Antonio Napolitano of Quadrelle, Italy, her sister Filomena Fiore of Milano, Italy, four grandchildren Alessandro Ferone (Jennifer), Benigno DeGennaro (Jennifer Grace), Benigno Ferone (Jennifer), Samuel DeGennaro (Katie), two great grandchildren Dante Paul DeGennaro and Antonio Benedetto DeGennaro, and three nieces Nicolette, Anna and Sandra. She is preceded in death by her brothers Filippo and Saverio Napolitano and a sister Francesca Picariello. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles where Mt. Carmel Bereavement ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in McDonald (due to renovation of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Niles) officiated by Father John Michael Lavelle, preceded by a 9:15 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.
