. Mark E. Helmick, 46, formerly of Niles, died in Ithaca, New York on Thursday September 16, 2010.

He was born July 28, 1964 in Warren the son of Bernard "Gene" and Jennie Nardo Helmick.

Mark was a 1982 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and was most recently employed for The Bayer Corporation in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Niles, Alcoholics Anonymous, and a physical trainer at New York Fitness in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Duke Blue Devil fan ,a United States Marine Corps veteran having served for over two years in Okinawa, Japan and was an embassy guard in The Philippines.

Mark will be deeply missed by his parents of Niles, a brother Kevin T. Helmick and his wife Regina of Niles, a sister Gina Price and her husband Ron of Girard, his maternal grandmother Mary Nardo of Niles, his niece and nephews, Makenzie and Matthew Price and Kasen Helmick.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Anthony Nardo and his paternal grandparents Edward Helmick and Virginia Ritenour.

Friends may call Thursday from 10AM to 1:00PM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:30PM Thursday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niles, with Fr. Larry Frient officiating, preceded by a 1PM prayer service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery.
