IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Matt Arthur
Stevens
October 31, 1951 – February 13, 2026
Matt Arthur Stevens, 74, of Newton Falls, Ohio, passed away on February 13, 2026, at UH Portage Medical Center in Ravenna. Born on Halloween in 1951 in Warren, Ohio, Matt was the son of the late Arthur M. and Belva (Williams) Stevens.
A 1969 graduate of Howland High School, Matt was a man who believed in the value of hard work and constant learning. In 1996, he returned to technical school at TCTC to become an electrician—a skill he mastered over a dedicated 45-year career at RMI Titanium Company. He was famously known as "MacGyver" at the mill, earned by his legendary ability to fix nearly anything with whatever was on hand. Even after retiring in 2018, Matt never truly stopped working; he found joy in tinkering, mowing yards for others, and lending a helping hand whenever a neighbor was in need.
Matt was a man of quiet service and deep community roots. He was a member of the Braceville United Methodist Church and the RMI Retirees group. Whether he was volunteering for the LaBrae High School band and soccer programs or regularly donating blood, Matt’s life was defined by giving back. In his downtime, he could often be found enjoying a classic old movie or out in the yard.
On March 28, 2009, he married Teresa (Wojton) Stevens, who survives him. His legacy lives on through his three sons: Brian Stevens and his wife Allison of Westerville, OH; Michael Stevens and his wife Sarah of Delaware, OH; and Robert Stevens, at home. He was the proud grandfather of Quinn, Lucas, and Arlo Stevens.
He is also survived by his brothers, Craig Stevens and his wife Sandy of North Canton, OH and Dwayne Stevens and his wife Louise of Pasco, WA; and his sisters, Bonnie Thompson and her husband Rick of Champion, OH and Patti Jo Stevens of Dehlonega, Georgia. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, who is more like a brother, Julius Wojton of Warren, OH.
Friends may call Saturday February 21, 2026 from 1pm until the time of the 4pm funeral service at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
Contributions may be made in Matt’s name to American Red Cross, 3530 Belmont Ave. #7 Youngstown, Ohio 44505 or to Braceville United Methodist Church, 589 Park Rd. Newton Falls, OH 44444.
