Obituary

Mildred "Millie" Boyer, 91, of Niles, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday September 11, 2024. Millie was born on October 31, 1932, in Niles, Ohio to the late Antonia (Slanina) and Peter Loncarevich. Millie graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1951 during which time she played on the basketball team. She married Charles Robert Boyer on October 8, 1955. They were married for 53 years. Millie was a loving mother to her son, Steve as well as a beloved aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Millie was an avid bowler for many years. She enjoyed making crafts, often gifting handmade decorations to loved ones. Millie was a dedicated member of the Croatian Fraternal Union. She enjoyed being a member of her local lodge and it's Veseljaci Taburitiza band for many years during which she played the brac and sang. She cherished times spent at Strossmayer Croatian picnic grounds, a place she frequented each summer. Her favorite memories were those made with friends and family. Millie will be remembered fondly for her social and generous spirit, always offering a plate of cookies to visitors. If you knew Millie, you know she never met a stranger. Millie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Boyer who passed away on January 20, 2008, son Stephen Boyer, sister Matilda (Joseph) Kijowski and brother Peter Loncarevich. She is survived by her sister Helen (Tino) Natoli, granddaughter Stephanie (Ryan) Williams, and great-granddaughter Liza. She also leaves nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Her niece Patti (David) Bush and grand-nephew Joshua Kijowski were dear to her and provided much care. Millie's family would like to recognize Paula and Lisa, who were Millie's friends and caregivers, her hospice nurses, and her neighbors, Steve and Jessie Brantly Bacha, and Kenny Hecker. Friends may call from 10am up until the time of the 11am funeral service Monday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles. Burial will be in Girard City Cemetery.
