Neil Russo Jr., 51, of St. Pete Beach, Florida, passed away on Friday May 1, 2026 at his mother’s residence in Niles.

He was born September 27, 1974 in Warren the son of Neil and Carol Major Russo Sr.

He was a 1992 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and was employed by The City of Niles. Neil’s love for the ocean and Florida began on his first trip there at the age of five. Eventually, Neil did move to Florida where he became a self-employed kayak tour guide in St. Pete Beach.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, kayaking, the outdoors, and live music. Neil had a great sense of humor and loved making others laugh.

He will be sadly missed by his mother of Niles, a son Nicholas Clay of Howland, a daughter Gianna Russo of Savannah, Georgia, his significant other Cathy Asay and their dog Doodles Lebowski, and his close friends Greg and Eva Stoppelmoor.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services were private.

Burial was in Niles City Cemetery.

Arrangements handled by The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles.
